American Express Complaint

Application Nightmare
Last month I applied for an American Express card through CostCo. I have a six figure income and a FICO score of 820. I have multiple credit cards, all with virtually no balances, each paid monthly. I get invitations from Am Ex almost monthly to apply for a card. Application should be a breeze. Nope, nada.
First I get an application pending delay. Then they say I have a fraud alert of some kind, again delaying the application. Next they do not have my SSN, once again a delay. Next they do not have my telephone number. Yep, another delay. Now a supervisor of some sort needs to review my application in detail. A final delay, perhaps. Am Ex will, eventually I suppose, get back to me with a decision. Honestly, I do not care about some supervisor's decision.
I bought a $400,000 house last year, a $60,000 BMW this year. Both purchases were painless. However for some esoteric reason, known only to Am Ex, I must be viewed as a dubious customer by Am Ex's team of India based expert customer service representatives.
I had an Am Ex card years ago. Dropped it due to shenanigans similar to this. Seems Am Ex has not changed one bit.
The only reason I applied for the card was to shop at CostCo. If this is the manner Am Ex chooses to apply to someone who should be a prized card member, I shudder to think of the customer service I would receive if I choose to carry an Am Ex card.
I think I will stick to Discover, Visa, and Mastercard and shop eleswhere for my credit purchases.
