  • Bad Customer Service At AMEX - They do not Care - Good Bye AMEX

    i recently signed up for the new Black Delta Card. When it arrived i looked at the interest rates charged for revolving credit and was a bit surprised by the 13 to 27% interest rates. I decided to check where i was and found after 2 late payments in a year i am at 27% . I called as a 33 year AMEX card holder with this black, a platinum and former Delta Platinum (prior to black) card holder. I explained these rates are charged for bad credit risks.     I am writing this to express my concern regarding the customer service at American Express. Recently, we had enrolled in the ICICI lombard insurance policy for Rs.21036/- on 23rd of april. After a detailed discussion with the customer representative, we decided to refund the policy and the refund was due in the following bill cycle.     I have had a personal AMEX Preferred Rewards Gold Card for quite some time without any missed payments and as a matter of fact making full payment of charges within just a few days of making the charge. We're not talking small amounts either. This last billing cycle alone was just shy of $50K.   • Costco American Express 10 days to get double payment refund

    I tried to pay my bill on the AMEX website yesterday. When I clicked on the button to send the payment I received a message sayin g that they were having technical difficulties and I should try again later or call a number they gave me.     Recently opened up a "Premier Rewards American Express Gold Card". This card requires you to pay off your balance each month and earn points along the way. The first month our bill was over $8,500 and was of course paid in full before the due date. Half way through the second month our card was blocked at $4,000 and I was told to make a payment before the due date to have the card unblocked.     Am Ex customer service is horrendous. I have been a member since 2001 and hate them. It took me from March to JUNE to finally get someone to speak with me on a "late charge" I incurred by paying my bill early. I spoke with B Harti on 6-9-15, she was very accommodating and removed all the charges AMERICAN EXPRESS added because I paid early and a supervisor would not call me back!     My card had frudulent activity. American Express informed me of this. I have been waiting for a replacement card for two weeks. I have spoken with representatives in Indian and the Phillipines who lied about when the replacement card would be received. The manager in the U.S was a speed talker, curt and indifferent.   • Incredible incompetence

    Since AMEX is used by the European Commission for travel arrangements (nobody is happy about it, they are renowned for their incompetence) one just investigates flights and hotels oneself and tells them what to do), my Vienna-Hamburg return flight was managed by Amex.     April 25/2015 rented a car from Thirfty through American Express Miles, waited in line for more than two hours to do a transaction that takes 10 minutes. In the line was travellers with infants and an elderly couple. During our two hour wait one of the two ticket agents went to break leaving only one person, what customer service!     Can you imagine a customer "service" team so awful that they do not even have the capacity to move a check mark made 30 minutes ago to an offer from one card to the other, even with the good reason that they are closing the card with the offer linked to it due to no longer being a Costco member?     American Express Customer is Worst in the world. They do not have any coordination with in their team and keep blaming the other team for delays in service.     Removed my Reward Points I have been a member of American Express since 1981. I fell into some financial difficulty, and did not realize I was in danger of my Platinum Card being cancelled.     Last month I applied for an American Express card through CostCo. I have a six figure income and a FICO score of 820.     We have regular AMEX cards and have had no problems. We got Prepaid AMEX card for travel. We were checking our account November 10th and was shocked that it was minus $20.64 and not the $2500 we put in this summer.     American Express may think they are an elite credit card company but their customer service and care of their consumers is the worst. I have been a member since 1987 and most of that time, until recently, was a satisfied customer.     We recently signed up for amex gold with delta sky miles. The deal was if we spend $1000 in the first 3 months we would get 30k miles. The next day we got the same offer in an email but for 50k miles. We called to see if we could get that offer since we just applied and havent even activated the card.     A representative within the cancellation department misinterpreted a conversation in which the phone line was disconnected prior to the end of the call. After that call, I was surprised to find my account closed the next day. I immediately called to have my account reinstated.     i just spent 2 hours with americam express support team (JAMIE) helped me. I had a simple question when you pay a bill online there is an option MEMO TO PAYEE i put information in the memo area needed for the bill to be processed as the account number was not enough.     Member since 99 and have watched the company go downhill lately. Just cancelled my Delta Airlines Platnum card. Straw that broke the camel's back was AmEx's refusal to acknowledge an airline ticket purchase on 12/31/13 towards my 2013 spend limit.     After being a customer for over 19 years, I cancelled my American Express Card. I mailed a check on the 14th of the month....they claim not to have received it until the 18th...payment was due on the 16th...I asked that the late fee be waived...they refused, I paid the balance, and called back to speak to another representative who informed me that I had already spoken to two other representatives and that they would not waive the fee. A few months ago I received a letter that offered me a deal to sign up for the Platinum Card and receive 100,000 Membership Reward Points if I spent $3,000 within the first 90 days of using the Platinum Card.
