  • Credit decline

Well let me start by saying Amex are dishonest, and very misleading. I have a card that was declined for credit increase because of a credit decrease, but the shady part was I was told by there Foreign Rep if I pay agreed amount by April 23rd 2017 I would be in good standing and my $10 credit line would be restored so instead b of me paying the 2k agreed to,I payed the FULL balance of 4k because the Foreign Rep said don't worry Mr Copeland you'll be in good standing with us. A month later I applied for a increase of credit and Amex declined me because I had a credit decrease on... More...

  • Terrible customer service

We are a small business that uses Amex cards for all company expenses including monthly bills, vehicle payments and products sold to customers. We spend between 30,000 and 50,000/month on our card. We have paid our accounts on time, in full and met every requirement of this card properly for years. Recently, Amex courted us to apply for a better card that will suite our business better. We completed the process and were approved. We changed all of our auto pay accounts to the new card and continued doing business as usual. 1 month later, Amex inadvertently lowered our credit limit to... More...

  • Violated Senior Citizen

American Express tricked me....sending application...filled it out, got card, before I used it I called them to as what was amount of credit line.... rep says $1000.00. Use card for hotel, bill comes, telling me I owe whole amount by middle of month. I call. Rep now telling me ... you have a charge card, must pay balance every month. I never saw that coming. I get out their paperwork and still do not read this. I am alone on a very low pension. I would have never wanted a card like this. I canceled it immediately. I asked what balance is $588.00. I will have to send 300.00 and starve for... More...

  • Don't pay for this Centurion card insurance

AMEX Centurion black card free "comprehensive full" travel insurance is a hoax. My flight got cancelled because - as per all documentation - the plane broke down, I missed my hotel cancellation deadline and got charged for unused rooms on my credit card. I booked the flights with AMEX as well. AXA turns around and shrieks "well - you still went so we're not paying out". Even though I lost a day and night... No - thanks. I'm not paying for that insurance package. Plus I have a real travel insurance for my work trips already which does work! So... not... More...

  • Rewards points

I have had 4 American express cards since 1989. I currently have over 100,000 reward points on the gold card alone. So, today I called to ask to put all those green card rewards, gold card rewards, and platinum card rewards toward a balance on one card. Guess what--only the blue cash card can do that. Since I am older and going through cancer I don't want the travel and air benefits. Oh well--too bad. So when you are considering credit cards that actually work for YOU try the Chase Sapphire card. Terrific cash back. Just forget American Express--they work for themselves. More...

  • Bad Customer Service At AMEX - They do not Care - Good Bye AMEX

i recently signed up for the new Black Delta Card. When it arrived i looked at the interest rates charged for revolving credit and was a bit surprised by the 13 to 27% interest rates. I decided to check where i was and found after 2 late payments in a year i am at 27% . I called as a 33 year AMEX card holder with this black, a platinum and former Delta Platinum (prior to black) card holder. I explained these rates are charged for bad credit risks. I have charged 50K in a month and paid amex back immediately - and 33 years - i am not a risk. They asked if i was going to terminate and... More...

  • WORST EXPERIENCE

I am writing this to express my concern regarding the customer service at American Express. Recently, we had enrolled in the ICICI lombard insurance policy for Rs.21036/- on 23rd of april. After a detailed discussion with the customer representative, we decided to refund the policy and the refund was due in the following bill cycle. It is unfortunate that even today, 3 months after the refund was due there has been no adjustment made in my billing statements. We have been constantly calling the customer care and every time we are told that it will reflect in the coming month's... More...

  • AMEX CHEATED ME OUT OF REWARDS POINT

I have had a personal AMEX Preferred Rewards Gold Card for quite some time without any missed payments and as a matter of fact making full payment of charges within just a few days of making the charge. We're not talking small amounts either. This last billing cycle alone was just shy of $50K. After speaking to a representative we decided it would be best if I opened a Business Charge Card as well for my business since we spend an average of about $150K a month in business expenses. I applied online where the offer specifically stated: "Get 75,000 Membership Rewards® points... More...

  • Costco American Express 10 days to get double payment refund

I tried to pay my bill on the AMEX website yesterday. When I clicked on the button to send the payment I received a message sayin g that they were having technical difficulties and I should try again later or call a number they gave me. I tried later and had the same results. I called the number and was told they were experiencing difficulties and I should call back later. I waited and tried to make the payment again. When I did it would not let me. I looked in the Payments list and it showed that both of the payments I tried to make that they rejected were actually accepted and my... More...

  • Late Fee

I was charges a $27 late fee for missing the payment by 2 days and Customer Service told me the reason I gave them was not good enough to reverse the charge? I usually pay as soon as the bill arrives, I always pay the full balance and they will cut me no slack the first time in 3 years that I am 2 days late? They did tell me that they are reasons they will reverse the charge but honest is not one of them? More...

  • American Express

Recently opened up a "Premier Rewards American Express Gold Card". This card requires you to pay off your balance each month and earn points along the way. The first month our bill was over $8,500 and was of course paid in full before the due date. Half way through the second month our card was blocked at $4,000 and I was told to make a payment before the due date to have the card unblocked. We spoke to four different American Express representative including a "supervisor" named Steven Hancock who was the rudest one of all. They informed us that the "system"... More...

  • American Express is horrible

Am Ex customer service is horrendous. I have been a member since 2001 and hate them. It took me from March to JUNE to finally get someone to speak with me on a "late charge" I incurred by paying my bill early. I spoke with B Harti on 6-9-15, she was very accommodating and removed all the charges AMERICAN EXPRESS added because I paid early and a supervisor would not call me back! She forgot to remove a $5.39 interest fee (just an over sight on her part) so AMEX charged me $27.95 interest fee on this. I pay my bill in full for 14 years now, and I pay too early and have been going... More...

  • Honor your promise

I don't know since when American Express has such a horrible customer service, even the supervisor was terrible. I was told that American Express doesn't need to be responsible for what their employee told their customers. If that's the case, then there is no need for anyone who is from American Express and will resolve this case to read the followings. Here is the issue. I applied for an American Express Business Platinum card back in May. I called to apply for that as I'm not sure if I'm eligible for the sign up bonus, which was 150,000 points after $20,000... • Horrible customer service American Express

My card had frudulent activity. American Express informed me of this. I have been waiting for a replacement card for two weeks. I have spoken with representatives in Indian and the Phillipines who lied about when the replacement card would be received. The manager in the U.S was a speed talker, curt and indifferent. I have been an American Express card holder for years. I am investigating another card company because this service has been so nightmarish. Shame on the management of American Express. They clearly do not value customer service at all. More...

  • Plenti signup is a mess

I am trying to register and combine three Plenti cards we ended up with (two from Rite Aid and one from Macy's). Your phone staff seems unable to do it. They say I need three phone numbers, one for each card, and insist we have to provide a date of birth. I will give a date of birth if you guarantee you won't be hacked. This could have been set up quite simply with an online form where multiple cards could be entered. Instead, it's turning into a huge waste of time, for both me and your staff. More...

  • Won't Cancel cards

I purchased three American Express PASS cards for my daughters a few years ago. In January their computer had a glitch that cause the cards to be loaded up to 5 times per day without my permission. After calling multiple times, speaking to many employees, supervisors, etc I finally (1 month later) had the money credited back to me. I told them I wanted the cards cancelled immediately. The cards still show that they are suspended online with the same zero balance since February. I told the customer service rep I want written verification that the accounts are closed. • Incredible incompetence

Since AMEX is used by the European Commission for travel arrangements (nobody is happy about it, they are renowned for their incompetence) one just investigates flights and hotels oneself and tells them what to do), my Vienna-Hamburg return flight was managed by Amex. But I decided to change the return flight on my flexible (i.e. far more expensive) ticket. Called the carrier, Airberlin on May 31, their not too competent staff told me that Amex, being the travel agency, had the first call on changes. But genereally, there would be no problem changing my flight and no charges. But contact... More...

  • Issues with Amex Platinum Service

I tried to book a flight through Amextravel.com. The airline I wanted to fly was not listed in the options. When I called Customer service I spoke with a supervisor named Pat who informed me that although she was able to find the flight/airline named XL Airways out of France they must charge me to book it over the phone. If it was avail online there is no booking fee. Her and Amex's inability to waive the booking fee for the three tickets I attempted to purchase as an exception in an instance where I have no choice but to book over the phone or book elsewhere is ridiculous. • Thrift Car Rental Tampa Airport Florida

April 25/2015 rented a car from Thirfty through American Express Miles, waited in line for more than two hours to do a transaction that takes 10 minutes. In the line was travellers with infants and an elderly couple. During our two hour wait one of the two ticket agents went to break leaving only one person, what customer service! He finally came back and was our representative. I asked what was the hold up, he replied long line ups all day long. I replied no excuse, this type of service was unacceptable. • The Worst Ever (Cannot Even Call It Customer Service)

Can you imagine a customer "service" team so awful that they do not even have the capacity to move a check mark made 30 minutes ago to an offer from one card to the other, even with the good reason that they are closing the card with the offer linked to it due to no longer being a Costco member? Unbelievable lack of customer service, stupid scripts by phone and by chat, staff that does not even understand how offers work in the first place, (I figured it out in 10 minutes) even from a manager, that solved nothing. American Express Customer is Worst in the world. They do not have any coordination with in their team and keep blaming the other team for delays in service. • American Express Took Away Reward Points

Removed my Reward Points I have been a member of American Express since 1981. I fell into some financial difficulty, and did not realize I was in danger of my Platinum Card being cancelled. It was cancelled in January of this year because of an inter collection process. I paid the balance in full, at one point totalling over 60,000.00. I paid all service fees and all interest charges without question, because I knew it was my fault for paying the bill late. But I did pay it all. • issue replacement PIN number

Capt Tony M. I had a simple request to issue a replacement PIN for my gold delta skymiles card on Mar. 3, '15. After speaking to 7 representatives with various scattered GLOBAL call centers during an ONE HOUR period it became an exercise in futility with conflicting answers from various agents - rather than speak to a rep I requested a supervisor. The service and bureaucratic computer generated menus were total frustration. American Express is the WORST experience I have encountered with a credit card company -- UNSATISFACTORY!! • American Express and Their Customer Service

I have been a customer of American Express for several years. Up to this point I have had no issues with their service. American Express has been no better or worse than the other services I use. I tried to purchase new cell phones on Sunday, March 1, 2015. • Poor Customer Service and Loss of Work

On the 21st of January I took a work lunch break to go and buy my wife her 30th present for the amount of $2,500 and at POS the transaction was declined. A second attempt was made as I am well aware of my account balance and it was also declined. I made a call for the first time to AMEX CS and setup my pin then was waiting for 7.5 minutes and was hung up on. Last month I applied for an American Express card through CostCo. I have a six figure income and a FICO score of 820. I have multiple credit cards, all with virtually no balances, each paid monthly. I get invitations from Am Ex almost monthly to apply for a card. Application should be a breeze. Nope, nada. First I get an application pending delay. Then they say I have a fraud alert of some kind, again delaying the application. Next they do not have my SSN, once again a delay. American Express may think they are an elite credit card company but their customer service and care of their consumers is the worst. I have been a member since 1987 and most of that time, until recently, was a satisfied customer. But since recent incident involving my credit card management, I think they are horrible with consumer satisfaction. I have seriously considered cancelling but, only out of inconvenience, have not.
