  • 1-800 Customer Service NOT LOCATED IN US!

Every single time I contact Customer Service I am connected to some in India, Pakistan, Middle East, everywhere except the USofA! I always have to ask to speak with someone in the US! THIS is unacceptable. I am a citizen in the US, buy my products and pay my payments in the US FROM MY US CREDIT UNION and should be able to KNOW whomever I am speaking with (from my Merchant) their service people are getting paid to do their jobs in AMERICA! American citizens need to step up and be heard for if we keep allowing other countries to take over our jobs there will be nothing left here in America... More...

This is the 2nd year in a row that Amex said they mailed my rewards refund that I have yet to recieve. Same Pattern every year, I stop getting paper statements in December even though I am signed up for them and I never get my Check. Then I mysteriously start getting paper statements again after the period they say they will cut the checks and tell me i am no longer eligable. They say its now on my March statement, which I have yet to see. If it does not come next week, I will cancel the card and never again use Amex. They are doing business like US Bank im suprised they dont have... More...

For the first time since holding an American Express/Delta Skymiles co-branded card I was under the impression that my annual spending had reached the threshold bonus figure of $25,000 qualifying me for 10,000 bonus "MQMs" in my Delta Medallion account. I got to the end of the year, seeing that I had exceeded the amount by $170 and began to look for the bonus in my Delta Airlines account. I called American Express this morning to find out why I haven't received this bonus. I was told that I didn't have the required "qualified spending" and that I was short by a... More...

  • False Reporting

I have been a card holder since the 80"s I received a letter from American Express just before Christmas thanking me for being a good customer and that they were increasing my limit. I made a purchase on 12-24-11 and went on vacation on 12-26-11. Before leaving on vacation I paid my bill. Long story short when I returned on 1-9-12. I had a letter from the company stating that my account was closed due to filing bankrupsy. This was absolutely false information and they know it, however they have not reinstated my account. This false information was sent to the credit agencies,... More...

  • American Express Does Not Care

I am talking about AMEX in the UK - I have been a member since 1989 and have seen the service gradually go down. Today I dont think anyone should get a AMEX card in the UK. Honestly you will regret it. Learn from someone that has been a customer for over twenty years. Maybe its differnet in the US - the UK AMEX has lost control of customer services. Too many complaints and they know its too much to fix. Shame cause when i first joined in 1989 they were really not bad. Mind you I only started having problems about 5 years ago. So maybe they were already bad but I wasnt doing much... More...

  • Misbehaviour at American Express Agency

I was shocked to see the behaviour of people representing a american express travel agency in MGF Megacity Mall, Gurgaon, Haryana INDIA. They were so rude that were not interested in attending a customer and behaved very rudely to sent me back from there office. It was so rude that i will never again go to an Amex travel agent nor refer anyone in future. Shame for such a big company to keep such people as their representative. • American Express Card

I have been an American Express customer since 1982. Last year I became a platinum card holder because up till then I felt that when I had a complaint they would listen and do something about it. In the past year I haven't got the service I am used to, I've tried to cancel the platinum card for weeks now and go Gold because I don't want to lose my points and they kept me waiting, then connected me to someone in the Phillipines and then she connected me to someone that could help me but I couldn't wait any longer. • Refund of credit balance

I have been working with American Express to get a refund on my credit balance and due to incompetence in the customer service department, I still do not have my refund and the account has been closed for 6 months. Two refunds checks have been mailed, but they keep sending them to an old address after repeatedly giving them my correct address. It might not be much money for AMEX, but it is a lot of money to me and it is causing me great problems. They have not shown any concern for my situation and have not done anything to attempt to speed up the process. I am a very unhappy customer... More...

My credit card account was closed in January 2011. I sent a request in for my credit balance of $1,032.12 in March. The AMEX customer service rep said wait and the check will come in a couple of weeks. They verified my adress, which was already on the account, and said it would be processed. Now we move forward to June, still no refund check from American Express. I call back "customer service" They proceed to tell me that they sent my refund to my old address where I lived 4 years previous. WHY they did this I don't know, they were able to get all of my bills and other... More...

  • AMEX Customer Service

Your service is no service at all. I suggested after writing of my experiance with AMEX, that you change your name to Iranian Express to be more representative of your honesty and service. I am embarrassed to think that you call yourselves "American". I hope that someday you are all left to answer the calls of Zimbabwians or Mongolians when America has been run out of business by your greed and the greed of other "American" Corporate giants. • Unhappy Amex Gold Card Customer

I have merrily rolled along with Amex for years, cheerfully paying their fees and never having problems. Until, I had a problem. The first problem I had with them was back in March. I called and actually got a woman who spoke English although she was from India.. I had a technical problem with the on-line service. It wouldn't let me change the amount of my Auto Pay. She said that she would have to connect me to Technical Support. I got some Indian gentleman. He seemed disgruntled. Usually there is a problem with English, but I am very patient. • $100 restaurant certificates

A few days ago I received 2-$100 restaurant certificates for a Gold Card promotion. On the surface this seemed nice but when investigated further it proved to be far beneath what one would expect from AMEX. Over the many years I have been a user of the Platinum card and now the Gold card and I have been proud of my association with your firm. But following a review of the terms to validate the certificates and the list of restaurants that will honor them here in Tucson, I was astonished that AMEX would stoop to such a promotion. Most of the restaurants listed are no better than diners or... More...

I ordered and AMEX gift card online for a relative. After emtering my credit card info., the next screen came up and told me that the order could not be processed. I re- ordered the card and then got an email telling me I had placed two orders. I called immediatly and customer service told me that I could not change the order and he would be shipped the two cards. • American Express charge

Another great example of a company that has lost track of who the customer is. I had a simple $38.00 charge on my corporate AMEX card that did not get paid via auto payment that took from January to May to resolve with AMEX. AMEX took weeks to respond to issues while the fees built up from the original $38.00 to $180.00. Calling AMEX routes you to some call center in India or some other country to talk to folks that barely speak english. I asked multiple times to speak to an American about the issue and they told me that I could not. They passed me on to a supervisor named Amen... More...

  • Loyalty not returned

I've been an American Express cardholder (both personal and business) for almost 30 years. AMX has a Blue Cash Preferred Card on which they offer a $100 dollar bonus if you spend $500 dollars within the first 90 days. In diligently reading all the terms and conditions online, nowhere does it state that you are not eligable for the $100 dollars if you are a current credit card customer. But when I went to apply for the BCP card, guess what, no bonus is offered. Why doesn't it state somewhere that current customers aren't eligable for the bonus? Could it be that it would look... Hi, I purchased a new teen Amex passcard because of the promotion you had going. I put $25 on the card and waited for the $25 bonus which I did not receive. I called today and talked to Sharon in India who refused to transfer me to someone in the US. After many requests I asked her name or id number which she gave me as Sharon. Had to cancel my platinum card after 30 plus years due to mismanagement by Amex who kept sending me books we didn't want and charging hundreds for them, even after promising for five years it wouldn't happen. Upon cancellation, had a credit which they never sent, and when we tried to use our 30K points, they said, "too late." Funny, Amex could keep our credit but our points expired. • where to start

I opened my amex cards three months ago. At first, it was an honor to be a cardmember of the "prestigious" "Amex". That changed very quickly.Within the first month, I was assessed annual fees for both my green and gold cards. I had to call to get it fixed. The lady was helpful and fixed it, but I shouldn't have had to do this. Next, my bonus points were not awarded, even though my expenditures for the first three months met the requirements. I was excited to get my first American Express card three months ago. However, I started having problems quickly. I recieved one gold card and one green card. The annual fee was supposed to be waived for the first year. However, with my first statements also came an annual fee assessed. When I called to ask them about it, the woman was very helpful and did fix the problem. However, I should not have to "babysit" my statements like that. The next problem came in the last few days. With no warning, my green card stopped working. This came within days of my gold card being... More...

  • I am done with American Express

I am done with American Express. I had held an American Express Card since 1992 and was generally happy with the company..no "oh wows" or anything...just business as usual. During this period probably my biggest complaint was trying to use my Skymiles which was a waste of time and a loss of my sirenity. The end came in 2008 when I read an article in the NYT about AE profiling their customers and making unilateral decisions on credit limits and whether to cancel accounts based on where an AE card was used. The $50 American Express card I received 3 months ago expires12/13. Wanted to use it today...so I checked the balance, and what? it has a '0' balance- the card was never used!
What am I to do? What happened to the $50 that is supposed to be in it? Is American Express taking money off up front and scaming me??!!

I was a card holder of American express "Blue."I had never been late on my payment and always paid at least 80% of the balance. In March 2009, I paid off the entire balance and with out warning, American express canceled my account. When I called to see why I was told that after checking my credit history that my balances on a few other accounts were high. American express can keep their card But their actions will lower my credit score.

It's nice not to be alone, but it's really sad that AMEX can do whatever to customers and there is no recourse. I haven't been a customer as long as many of you; just since 2006. My credit line wasn't as high either; just $1200.00. But I always paid on time if not before time and mostly more than the previous month's balance because of the low limit and I had liked being able to manage something in my life. I went to use the card to rent a car to see my kids last weekend and when I got to the counter the poor clerk had to tell me my card was canceled. Not declined - because I had just made a $500.00 payment to cover the travel I was anticipating. AMEX didn't even have the decency to inform me ahead of time so at least I could prepare. I understand they have every right according to their "agreement" but my financial situation didn't get the way it is overnight and AMEX has definitely been aware of its status the entire time. I depended on that card and it sucks that consideration can't even be given on a humane basis.

I HAD been a member of american express for over ten years with three acoounts until October 08

I have never been late, always paid my balances off and in late september I received an e-mail telling me that they had either lowered my credit lines or removed my ability to pay over time. now keep in mind one of my accounts had a $27,000.00 line of credit and they lowered it to $500.00 and I won't go into detail about what horrible things they did to my other accounts but needless to say none of my accounts are worth using now nor would I.

It's sad to hear that they are laying off people but I hope everyone stops use there cards and boycotts them!!!!!

It would bring me much pleasure to hear that they are filing for bankruptcy because all of us that did absolutely nothing to them but pay our bills and be loyal to them brought them to their knees!!!
